Macklemore takes Portland

It's quite possible I mentioned to Rhett five hundred and three times over the past 6 months that I reallllly wished we could go to the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis show.  We've had an expensive year and are rebuilding some cash money funds, so dinero for shows just isn't in the budget right now.  Plus, there was no way we'd be taking in the Macklemore show without Tristen, which meant 3 tickets instead of 2.  Tristen introduced us to Macklemore wayyy before the whole world knew who Mackelmore was and it wouldn't have been fair to go without him.  A few days before the show Rhett got an email from a mutual friend of Macklemore's cello player saying she needed a ride to PDX from Seattle, and would comp some tickets in exchange for a ride. And my fantastic hubby volunteered cause he knew it would make my day.  How cool is that and how awesome is he.   ** insert clapping hands and cartwheels! **  I was on cloud nine to be able to take Tristen to his first big arena show.  And Macklemore was AWESOME.  The energy that comes out of him is nuts.  The guy has a message and he preaches! AND yes, it's true: He crowd surfs every show.  Not once, but twice. Our photos of it are a blurred hot mess, but trust me.  It was supa cool.  ;)

BEP & U2 in BC 10-28. Wna go?

3 years ago, on October 10, 2009, Rhett and I met.  

10 days and a date later, I sent out a text:  

"BEP & U2 in BC 10-28.  Wna go?"

He replied "Sure"

We left Portland at 4am, were camped outside the Seattle Passport Agency's door at 8am so Rhett could renew his passport, entered Canada at about 11am, and spent the afternoon snapping pics in Pre-2010 Winter Olympic Vancouver BC {I have a photo, that I can't find right now ~ boo,  in front of this } and then we headed to BC Place Stadium for the show.  It was Epic.  I dragged him as close as we could get when Black Eyed Peas hit the stage, for about 10 minutes, and then we went to the back of the floor and had our very own dance party.  At one point the Wave went around and around and around that Huge Gigantic Stadium and I remember pointing my finger and following it around and around, twirling in circles.  I'll never forget how huge it felt.  And Then, something happened that may be the hinge that holds us together, forever.  U2 came on, and we left.  Who does that?  Who drives 6 hours for a show and leaves when the legendary headliner comes on?  Me & Rhett.  We got a little bored.  We both wanted to go do something else.  So we did.  We left the stadium, crossed the street over to where The Flag of Nations stage was set up in anticipation of the Olympics, climbed up on it, and to the booming of U2 from BC Place, we ran around and danced some more.  

Foster the People ~ McMenamins Edgefield

I had nooo idea what I was about to be treated too.  I mean, I like Foster the Pepper People and all, especially ~ of course ~ the song Pumped Up Kicks {I'm never gna live down saying "let's stay for Pumpkin Sticks". hey! couldn't you too have mistaken "pumped up kicks" for "pumpkin sticks"?  say them both twice, out loud.  see!?} that blew up recently .. you know the one that goes "run run run as fast as you can from my bullet", or something like that.  I'm so awful with song words.  Eek.   Let's just suffice it to say that I knew I would like the music...  But I was unprepared for the extreme AWESOMENESS of BOTH openers, the beautiful weather, remembering what it's like to be one in a mass of happy people having an amazing time, how fun it is to giggle with girlfriends, and how INCREDIBLE Mark Foster and his band are.

well, he's in my world now.

Foster and his band spent a couple hours at a food bank in Portland yesterday.
they have this thing they call:  Foster the Future.
they try to give back to every community they go to.
that is pretty damn cool, if you ask me.

now I want to put another summer concert on the calendar!

Miss Katy Perry

I am taking it very seriously that I avoided the near devastation of losing all my phone pics last week by getting all my photos backed up and on my laptop.  I'm coming across so many fun old memories... 

Katy Perry.  I'm loving the girl right now.  Her new song has me fist pumping.  "This is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take from me. Noooo!"  Aaaah!  I LOVE it.  So maybe it's a little public and personal.  And a dig at the Ex.  Well, it was Adele that said it at the Grammy's:  Where do most of all great lyrics and songs come from?  "A Rubbish Relationship, and we've all had them".  Well said. 

So last summer I wasn't your biggest Katy fan, but I liked her.  I had her album and it was damn catchy.  I sang along.  And when I got offered free tickets to a suite for her show, I took em.  And she was AWESOME!  Really! She was personable, talked directly to the crowd, and gave a very fun show.  Kudos to Katy!
