... and can you believe it- we were missing 5 members of the fam!  family power came together Sunday afternoon to help mom with the remaining elements of her move.  all the babies played and all the sibs chipped in to help, in the midst of laughing and hugging and loving on those babies.  and of course, in true biggest sister fashion, I took photos.  some crappy phone photos, but nonetheless, memories of a fantastic family filled day.

" That Girl "

you know that girl that has known you since forever-ever ago?  she's the one that knows the secrets you had when you were 18 years old, and is the same girl that knows every detail of the triumphs & torments that were a decade later, and is the girl that shares your hopes, dreams, burdens, and joys of today.  she's the one that has been through it all.  That Girl for me is this girl right here.  Jenn.  we moved in together at the ripe age of 18, and have been through thick and thin from that day since.  while i was "home" this weekend, for the first time in a very, very, very long time i spent an afternoon with my bestie doing what bestie's do when they're just hangin', living life ~ eating, shopping, chatting, planning, laughing ~ just being besties.  no huge agenda, no event, just being together.  and really.  it was the absolute best.

from a mall rat store for just $8 dollars {!},

with a neon skinny belt looped up,

 as per the 12 awesome ways to knot your belt how-to

 I found on pinterest the other day.

I had yet to sport this little white "chanel" inspired bag,

 that I picked up for THREE DOLLARS

at a yard sale last weekend.  

I think I kinda love it.

checkmate baby

here's the deal yo.  I am in pain these days.  I have "posture related tension" that flares it's ugly head from time to time and ohmy is now a time.  I'm so tense, trying not to be tense.  Rhett came home to find me sprawled, motionless on the couch this evening, and dragged my aching body out and around town to loosen me up... we found our way to an eclectic little bar called Rontoms.  I spotted a pile of board games, and in particular a chess board, and let out a squeal.  Oh Chess.  Oooh the memories.  I grew up playing it with my sibs.  Dad had us thinking 10, 11, 12 .. 20 moves out, all while sitting silently, concentrating at that grid of black and white squares filled with the royalty of Kings and Queens and Knights and Rooks and Bishops. Strategic Thinking 101, that's what the chess board was for us.  Rhett was a sport.  He played, though it's not his game and he didn't want to, and I cleared his pieces one by one till he was down to his big poor King and two little pawns and then..  Check Mate baby.  Momentary though it was, there's nothing like victory to ease a little pain.  ;)

highlight of the week

monday's drive to Kahneeta 

- a casino resort on Indian Reservation about 2 1/2 hours from Portland - 

was def the highlight.  

#1 because I saw Tristen,  

#2 cause I got to spend time with my sis, my very favorite thing to do,

#3 because the guy in the short purple shorts rocked them with his cowboy boots and his cowboy hat.
