tristen sold my driver's license today. true story

i could not find my drivers license .. for about 9 months.  about 2 weeks ago i was all convicted that i should go get myself a new one.  the big ol conviction was caused by a very serious person telling me very seriously what possible fines, and court dates, and pleading before a judge, and blah-blah-blah could be imposed on me should i get pulled over without my license in hand, and that really Makaila, relying on batting eye lashes and claiming ignorance really wasn't great insurance for such an incident; so i got convicted and went to my local dmv before a recent road trip, and got myself a new drivers license.

today Rhett and Tristen hosted a garage sale and Tristen sold an old beach bag of mine for a dollar.  an hour later, the lady that bought the bag, came back.  in the bag, was my old drivers license.  jeez. 3 things. 1.  i'm grateful that some random person hasn't been going around posing as me {which was my assumption}   2.  i'm really really lucky the lady brought it back.  thanks going out to Karma ~ i do my best to stock up with her, and girl came thru {don't you think Karma is a girl too?} 3. next time, as T pointed out, i should actually look for what i lost, cause it might just be in a bag in my closet.

have a fantastic Holiday everyone!
the before said garage sale was thrown together
due to a major move we're making,
to new office space {!!!}
it's gonna be a busy couple days,
i'll see you on the other side.
~ or on instagram if you wanna keep in touch over the weekend! ;) ~

peace!

she's moving across the ocean

i look at this photo, of when she was just a wee little one,
and i try to pinpoint exactly when it was that she got so womanly. so brave.
so adventurous. so confident. so self-sufficient.

i'm 32, and she's 23 now.  how cool, never to happen again!
i'm in Oregon, she's about to be in Hawaii.
indefinitely.

tomorrow she's flying solo, with no return date,
to those islands that borderline heaven
to see what she sees,
find what she finds,
to live the island life.

i'm so proud of you sis.
my chest is puffed full.
and so is Mel's.
we talked tonight and we are so dang proud of you.
should we have been carefree at 23,
we'd be doing the same damn thing.

Love You Bab's!
don't forget your sissy back on the mainland.

AND USE INSTAGRAM.
i WILL pull some big sis shniz on you if you don't.
NOT KIDDING.  :P

the Bird days are back

this is me these days.  just doin' the mom thing. sitting outside practice fields, watching my Bird.  this summer when Tristen left, it was a smooth transition, no real craycray alteration to life.  every summer, previous to this summer, i would suffer some good ol depression that my boy was gone, followed by intense restructuring of living, going as buck wild as possible, livin' it up, being "kidfree".  not anymore.  there was no real change to life this summer. i live basically the same with kid as i do without kid.  i guess i'm old now.  or stable.  and maybe settled.  Bird's been back for a week and a half, and we've seamlessly jumped back into routine.  chores charts, practice, dinner, million dollar listing marathons and other tv shanaigans, including PLL cause Bird's step sister got him hooked.  talk about holy mother!  just finished the season finale- now this shiz be cray!  and entertaining as only a good drama can be at adding a little fantasy spice to the mundane life.  all is good.  all is routine.  the Bird days are back.

and they ran and ran

I'm not quite sure what was most beautiful and enduring about this moment.. was it watching my little sister, Melissa, run and play with her baby, and their pure glee as they chased and ran from the waves; or was it little miss Brooklyn, experiencing the ocean for the first time that she most likely remember, and her amazement and fearlessness of the ice cold salt water.   Or, was it the pride of the big sister that filled my soul with smiles as I watched my dear little sister, put aside her vast responsibilities, and just play.  I'm don't know.  Though I tend to think it was watching Mel play and smile and laugh.  No cares, no worries. Just being in the moment, and loving every moment of it.

Busy Boston

Boston had a bucket, a shovel, vast amounts of sand,
and from the moment we hit the beach,
she plopped herself down in the sand and dug.
and dug, and dug, and dug some more.
"want to run in the ocean with us Boston?"
didn't even warrant a lifting of the head.
She was in heaven, and would not be bothered.
she was busy.

0606 AM

0606 AM:

My phone is ringing.  I roll over and reach across the bed to answer.  Of course.  It's my dad.  Can't count on the man for much, but can definitely count on him giving an ungodly early morning phone call on my birthday.

Here we go.  My 32nd Birthday.

0610 AM:

I'm weepy.  Rhett's telling me happy birthday.  And telling me all the wonderful things life has before us.  And I'm just weepy.  I don't think I would like to have my 32nd Birthday after all.

0615 AM:

A text comes in from Heidi:  HAPPY HAPPY Birthday!!!!!

0625 AM:

I sigh.  Open up the message alerts on my phone and am surprised.  Twitter messages.  What?  Happy Birthday Tweets!  What!  My first ever birthday tweets.  From Dusty (the first one of course), Shannon , Marion , Justyn , and Stacia.  I'm so 2012'th century these days. ;)

0630AM:

I do what I do every morning right before I roll out of bed, and click on Dusty's page to see what craziness she's pondering today.  What the EFFF! comes out of my mouth as I see my picture and then a whole damn blog post saying Happy Birthday to me.  Crazy ass smile splatters across my face.

well shoot.  Maybe this isn't going to be so bad.
Alright.  Fine.  Time to face today.

0730AM:

My BFF calls, the family group texts start chiming.

0745AM:  I send Heidi a text.  "I don't really want my birthday today."  She says I get it.  Do you want Starbucks?

0800AM:

I walk into my office and am greeted by the Happy Banner strung across the window.

I smile.  As memory serves, birthday's really are rather fun.

0845AM:

I receive an ADORABLE video of Vivi and Dache singing Happy Birthday to Auntie Makaila.  Melt my heart.

1000AM:

Beautiful, Beautiful Red Roses arrive from Rhett.

1145AM:

I head to lunch with my girlfriends from work.  The ones that let me have pity parties.  And they indulge me and shower me with friendship.  And gifts.

0230PM:

It's cupcake time.  I have 1/3 of 1/2 of each one.  Except for the Vanilla one.

I've heard from my whole family,
numerous friends,
there have been more tweets,
and blog land Happy Birthday's have filled my day, throughout the day.
*smiles*

0400PM:

I head home and get Tristen on the football field.  Run and go get my Glow spray on.  Try on 3 outfits.  We're going to Benihana for dinner.  I can't wait.

0630PM:

Open Tristen's card and gift before we leave for dinner.  The card is absolutely Perfect.  My Birdie.  Perfect.  Except for he forgot to sign it.  And the "old school" gift he couldn't wait to give me, is perfect too.  The flowers?  He picked them.  Behind Fred Meyers.  Cause the ones inside FM were $15 bucks.  :)

0700PM:

The beginning of my 3 hour birthday dinner and watching of wonderment on the kiddo's faces.

0800PM:

The cutest picture message comes in from my niece Brooklyn, saying Happy Birthday to her auntie.

0930PM:

I open Rhett's gift.  I love it.  Hearts and Diamonds.  What more could a girl ask for.

1000PM:

We head home.  We head straight to bed.  I'm so very happy.  It's been an amazing birthday.

I'm not quite sure what it was.  What it is.  I have always embraced and loved getting older.  And it's not that I'm not okay with where I am, who I am. {other than the 10lb weight gain that has me down, and that I need to address, Monday}  I think it stems from the last weekend, from spending time with my siblings, my siblings that are all adults now.  We're all aging.  It's beautiful.  It's also never been more real that life moves very, very fast. And I just don't want it to.  Maybe this explains my fascination with photos.  Moments, frozen in time.  Sometimes, I just want to freeze it all.

Thank You for all the birthday wishes.
You made my day.
