Tristen's 12th Birthday. I've never put as much thought and work into planning a party for him as I did for this birthday. Tweenagers are soo hard to impress. I wanted a party that would be fun and interactive, but "cool". After much web searching, I finally settled on an Amazing Race slash Mall Crawl theme.
Once I settled on the theme, I searched for Amazing Race party printables. I purchased our package from the Queen of Theme Party Games, found here. I was absolutely thrilled with the package and would definitely recommend purchasing from this site. The package was emailed quickly, was self explanatory to use, and had just the perfect amount of "cool" {not cute} details that I wanted.
The package included personalized everything, all set up for us to customize. Personalized banner, personalized invitation, badges, pit stop/road block/detour challenge cards, envelopes, badges, food tent cards, water bottle wrappers, candy favor bar wrappers, favor bag toppers, and more. It had everything to plan the race in the exact replica of the Amazing Race television show, all with Tristen's name on them. All the details made the entire party come together.
So I can appreciate it fully, I'm going to post the party in segments cause I took lots of pictures and want to soak up every single one of them.
the Pre Party.
The Race itself was held at the mall. We invited all the kids to come to the house, before we headed to the mall, for some snacks. And so I could put out all these darn cute printable's. ;)
we had 3 teams, 2 on each team
I framed one of the invitations as part of the table decor
i loooved the banner! and surprisingly, so did Tristen it is now hung above his bed
cute, right! But totally "not cute" all at the same time cause they were acceptable to the tween. Which was my exact goal. Before we headed to the mall, the banner served as the perfect backdrop for a few group shots...

Do you want to plan my birthday party? I'm excited to see what the race was! What mall did you do it at?
My wife also ran a party like this. The kids enjoyed it so much that we developed a "The Fantastic Race" app for the iPad, iPhone, iPod and Android phones and tablets. It is a configurable (if you want to) party organiser. If takes you through the setup, gives you a timetable and checklist of what to get. And most importantly runs the party for you.
