Pilot Butte is an extinct volcano located centrally in Bend. At its peak, it stands about 500 feet above the desert below. I didn't capture it well, because I was so enthralled by the Cascade Mountain Range and the intensity of the pink clouds that were floating across the sky, but from the top of Pilot Butte is a complete 360 panoramic view of mountain ranges. As the sun ascends and descents over and below these ranges, the sky above the High Desert literally glows. The great metal compass pictured above describes each peak. As you can see by the compass, my description of a 360 panoramic is not an exaggeration. It's a breathtaking view.
