most of my childhood, this area called "The Old Mill" in Bend was truly nothing but a dirty old mill. back in the 1980's Bend was a true mill town. my dad worked there. the mill was about the only steady source of year round employment in Bend. these were the days before visionaries decided that Bend ~ which we locals coined "poverty with a view" ~ should be and could be a destination for many. the development of this area, The Old Mill, is nothing short of spectacular and a perfect reflection of the lifestyle of Bend. lazy, cozy, beautiful. full of paddle boarders, floaters, bikers, walkers, loungers, locals, & tourists that can't help but to gravitate here.

Everyone keeps telling me I need to visit Bend. And now I'm convinced. It's absolutely gorgeous!
my grandparents recently moved away from bend, but they talk about it constantly...its definitely on my "to visit" list!
I love historical places. Especially when there history with that person involved. What a fun day!
