what a terrible tease.. the Fourth on a Wednesday

it was heat shock!

miss mother of nature was kind to us Portlander's on the Fourth this year.  I feel bad saying it was "HOT" when it was truly only 71, and those from certain parts of the country enduring the awful temperatures of 105+ right now, would probably like to reach through their computer screens and slap me fair and square but.. people.  I live in Portland.  And when it gets to 71 in Portland.. it's a darn heat wave.  And we celebrate.. and eat Ice Cream!!

and because we were at a festival..

we ate

Big O Nachos!

and..

Elephant Ears!!

and lots of other salty,
$10 for a little tray,
good ness.

we did do other things,
other than just eat..

like get pictures with this dude..

and we made ourselves
chair and blanket tents
to create some shade...

it was after about 15 minutes in the blanket tent

that I started whining.

so Rhett ran me home to put on a tank and some shorts,

and grab my new chambray!

The Blues Festival goes all weekend long.
$10 bucks and two cans of food gets you in the door.
Wednesday alone they collected over 31,000 pounds of food.

they are not homeless!!
they are just an adorable couple that sat by us all day,
and took a nap..

they also did a little butt bumping during one of the blues sets.
it was soooo cute!

we settled in with the other 25k peeps,
to get ready for the big show.

I had never before seen  fireworks shot off a barge over the water.

Very Spectacular.

{see that bright ball to the left of the fireworks?  that was the FULL MOON.
It was an insanely gorgeous backdrop behind the bright flying lights}

and there it is.
our Fourth of July 2012,
at the Portland Blues Festival....

the only place I've ever seen,

a Recycling Monitor.

every recycle post had one,

and literally, they MADE everyone dispose/recycle correctly.

food composting included.

Only in Portland? :)

71°?! That sounds so amazing right now I can barely stand it. Send all your summer clothes over here, I ended up wearing a tank top to work today, not caring if anyone said anything. It's too hot to care.

This little fest looks like a blast! I want to come next year, k? I think I can handle a 71 degree heat wave vs a 105 one.

ohhhhhhhh you've got to be kidding me girl!! 71!?!?!? that's PERFECT. come to Nebraska over the fourth... you will need more than a blanket shade ;) ITS SO HOT HERE. I had a photo shoot last night and was literally dripping with sweat when I was done - and the shoot only lasted 2 hours!!! Gotta love summer in the mid-west! :)

Just reserve my spot for next year. This looks like the best time. Why can't Tennessee have this kind if shit. 71 here right now would feel like winter. I am really ready to move now.

we stayed in on the 4th because we were afraid of how packed the waterfront was going to be! looks like a good crowd turned up. and i love that they had recycling monitors. love it.

Looks amazing!

I'm scared of any street performers painted silver. A silver guy poked me in the eye in San Francisco. No lie!

A recycling monitor?! Only in Portland or maybe Seattle too. :)
Looks like an awesome day. It reached 74 here today! Yeah!
