It's Tippy Tuesday!

Don't you hate how you cut up an apple, throw it in your lunch bag, and a few hours later when you take it out to eat it, it's all brown and looks yucky?  I read a trick on how to keep this from happening:

cut your apple in half
slice it up

put the apple back together

put a rubber band on it
as it went into the fridge..

This is supposed to keep the apple from browning!  So this morning [Tuesday, 1/23] at 7am, I sliced up my apple,  wrapped a rubber band around it, put it in a plastic bag, and threw it back in the fridge to test the method.  When I got home at 7pm tonight, I pulled the apple out and opened it up...

here it as after being in the fridge for 12 hours, bound up

aw man!  wonder if it would have worked better if I'd opened it at noon..

I hate that. Brown apples are not the business. I've heard putting them in cold water helps...but who wants to carry a thing of cold water with apples in it in their lunch sack? NOT ME.

try sprinkling some lemon or lime juice. it usually slows the browning process. and also buy granny smith or golden smoty apples since they seem to show very minimal browning.
