A Sunday At Timberline Lodge

It was freezing, raining fiercely, and miserably windy at the top of the mountain.  Thank god we were camped out in front of a massive, toasty fireplace for most of the day.  We read books and I even caught a few zzzzz's. 

Here's a peak at our day, and the fabulous Timberline Lodge...

i just picked this up at Barnes & Noble this weekend.
it is HILARIOUS!

the lodge is full of interesting native art from the moment you, literally, walk in the door

probably the most impressive element of the lodge is the amazing beam design

the center rock work hosts four fireplaces

unique, fun details like these cabinets of books fill the space

the lodge hosts many distinct wood carving works

we spent a few hours in front of this massive stone fireplace

and there's my boy

we had lunch in the Cascade Dining Room 

they ran out of their clam chowder so served this pan seared scallop dish instead.
it was veeery rich.  

the cheese itself was amazing.
the fact that they only served it with nuts and sauteed pears was odd to me.

the dessert was truly amazing.
this  was banana ice cream with toffee

apple cobbler with homemade caramel ice cream.

gooey chocolate chip cookie with a dab of homemade vanilla ice cream.
