after we checked out of the hotel this morning {writing Sunday night} we drove along the coast, on the look out for a good crab spot. we passed a sign that boasted beach access. there was an obvious deep forest between the road way and the beach and we thought a little hike would be fun so we stopped and made the trek. it was gorgeously lush. all sorts of plant species, every color of green imaginable, and wonderful old growth everywhere, covered in moss. we had to cross a rickety bridge suspended over water and we paused for a little photo op..
..we hit the cove and realized we'd discovered an obviously known little secret. there were probably 20 surfers out - crazy weird for the oregon coast to see a surfer period, let alone a big group of them, and we quickly realized why. the cove was protected from the gusts, and the sun beamed down. we skipped through cold ocean water to get to the tide, set up the tri-pod, and ran and danced around on the sand. rhett did his conan dance, and i jumped on him and nearly toppled him over. tristen kicked his soccer ball around and insisted on finding the best way i.e. anyway but our way, through the water to the sand and got toppled over himself by the current. poor kid.
my bestie text me tonight and asked what my favorite part of the weekend was.. maybe this? i don't know.. there were so many good moments. this def ranks though. thank god we stopped. always stop! if you see a sign that slightly intrigues you- stop. if you don't, you won't know what you're missing.

All the green with the water running through it reminds me of where we got married. So, so pretty!
